I’ve booked my flight, so I guess it’s official. I’m going to spend Christmas and New Year’s in a space pod.
I found out recently that I was lucky enough to be picked as a member of Mars Desert Research Station Crew 63. I’ll be spending two weeks living in a 24-foot-wide cylinder with a diverse group of five other scientists, in a full simulation of the Martian environment.
Sound like a bad reality TV show? Yeah, I thought so, too.
